Strainstall container weighing system utilized in UK

Strainstall's container weighing system is currently being used at numerous UK ports including the Port of Felixstowe and Tilbury and is being considered for integration throughout ports and terminals in the U.S., Europe, Chile and Canada, according to a company statement.

Strainstall said the system was developed in response to talks within the IMO calling for mandatory verification of container weights and has been developed to enable port authorities and shipping companies to gauge the exact weight of containers, as well as the ability to detect heavy loads.

The container weighing system is available different formats that integrate strain gauge technology with associated instrumentation, providing accurate load measurement that requires no modification to the standard spreader arrangement, the company said.

The twist-lock variation of the CWS was recently installed on the straddle carrier at the London Container Terminal at the Port of Tilbury. Strainstall container weighing systems will also be installed within the Port of Felixstowe, the UK's largest port.
