DP World implements regional security management system

DP World is the first port operator in the Middle East to implement the Regional Security Management System standards and achieve its regional ISO 28000:2007 certification from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance.

LRQA assessors audited the security management system implemented by the port operator at its four facilities in the UAE: Jebel Ali Port, Mina Rashid, Mina Al Hamriya and Fujairah Container Terminal.

The security management system covers container and cargo handling, storage, and transportation, vessel movement, cruise liner passenger disembarking and embarking, and passenger movement.

Receiving the global security certification was influential in DP World being invited to join the U.S. Customs' Trade Partnership Against Terrorism and its participation in the U.S. Department of Energy's Megaports Initiative, which will fit major terminals worldwide with radiation portals capable of detecting dangerous nuclear and other materials.
