Los Angeles TraPac terminal places repeat order for Kalmar cranes

Terminal services provider TraPac has place a repeat order with Kalmar for 17 automated stacking cranes and 11 automated straddle carriers for its terminal at the Port of Los Angeles, according to a Kalmar statement.

Part of the Los Angeles TraPac terminal is scheduled to open for commercial operations in the second quarter of 2014. The cost of the equipment, expected for delivery in 2015 and early 2016, has not been released.

The new order adds to a previous one placed in 2011 for 10 automated Kalmar stacking cranes and 17 automated straddle cranes, the company said.

TraPac is a subsidiary of Japanese company Mitsui OSK Lines, and operates from two ports California and one in Jacksonville, Florida.
