HP touts Touchpad to outpace iPad as top tablet

Hewlett Packard is betting its new Touchpad that is expected for release this summer, will surpass the market-leading Apple iPad as the top tablet in the marketplace.

“In the PC world, with fewer ways of differentiating HP’s products from our competitors, we became number one; in the tablet world we’re going to become better than number one. We call it number one plus,” said Eric Cador, HP’s director in Europe at a recent press conference.

The HP Touchpad will use the WebOS operating system, making it the fifth-such operating system in the web-based market that includes leaders Apple and Google.

The HP OS is courtesy of the tech company’s acquisition of Palm, and according to a story in the Telegraph, has received positive reviews from industry experts.
