Singapore firm opens e-commerce logistics hub
Singpost’s ecommerce division has developed a $145 million eCommerce Logistics Hub in Singapore, which the company expects to be ready by the second half of 2016.
SingPost is the national postage service in Singapore that’s privatized and publicly-listed.
According to the statement, the three-story hub will be "the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, equipped with state-of-the-art technology." The 553,000-square-foot building will feature a fully automated parcel sorting area on the ground floor with two modern warehousing floors above. An adjoining 8-story office block will house SingPost’s local and regional logistics operations.
In addition, the facility has a parking facility on the rooftop with room for 270 vehicles, and a high tech system that will be able to handle up to 100,000 parcels per day.
"This Hub is also an integral part of SingPost Group’s strategy as we expand our ecommerce logistics business and capitalize on the fast-growing ecommerce market here in Singapore and the region," said Dr. Wolfgang Baier, CEO of SingPost. "With this critical infrastructure in place, it will radically transform our full range of ecommerce logistics capabilities, across warehousing, fulfillment, sorting and delivery."
