Jensen Marine awarded contract for four tankers

Jensen Maritime Consultants, the architecture and engineering arm of Crowley Maritime, announced a contract to manage the construction of four new 330,000-barrel, Jones Act product tankers, which will be built by Aker Philadelphia Shipyard Inc. for Crowley.

Jensen said it is setting up on-site offices and personnel at the shipyard now to build relationships with Aker staff and a set up a work and delivery schedule by the time construction begins in January 2014.

Delivery of the veteran class tankers is expected in 2015 and 2016.

Jensen said this is the second major project they have taken on since the launch of their new construction management program. The first assignment involved overseeing the construction of two new fireboats for the Port of Long Beach.
