FedEx delivers T-Rex skeleton

FedEx Custom Critical, an arm of FedEx Corp., has successfully hauled a rare Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton from the Museum of the Rockies in Montana to the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

The 65 million-year-old fossil will be exhibited at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, on loan for 50 years.

"The Nation's T-Rex" will be the centerpiece of the museum's new dinosaur hall.

The 11.6-meter long, seven-ton T-Rex skeleton made the journey from Montana to Washington on a special FedEx Custom Critical truck.

Montana rancher Kathy Wankel discovered an arm bone of the dinosaur in 1988 in the Fort Peck Reservoir. It is the first T. Rex arm bone ever found. Further excavation recovered 80 percent of the dinosaur's skeleton.
