Crowley adds 500+ reefers to its fleet

Crowley Maritime’s liner services group has added 537 new reefers to facilitate service to clients in Central America, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, according to a company statement

The 40-foot refrigerated containers, built to Crowley’s specifications, will expand their fleet by 200 boxes and replace 337 aging FEUs.

“The acquisition of these containers is part of our continued commitment to maintain the best conditioned equipment for our customers in time for peak demand,” said Steve Collar, senior vice president and general manager, Latin America liner services. “We have a staff of experts that continuously evaluates our fleet and its ability to meet customer needs.”

The company said the new containers feature Carrier’s high efficiency PrimeLINE® refrigeration units, incorporating several changes to help boost efficiency and reliability even further.

Crowley operates more than 44,000 pieces of owned and leased intermodal equipment, including 19,700 chassis, 19,300 dry containers and 3,650 refrigerated containers in the U.S., Central America and the Caribbean.
