GM to share electronic vehicle technology with Chinese partner
Succumbing to pressure from the China’s government, General Motors has reportedly agreed to open access to it proprietary electronic vehicle technology with its Chinese partner – Shanghai Automotive Industrial Corp. - after a first-ever meeting of GM’s board of directors was held in the Asian nation.
Answering criticisms over giving the Chinese a stronger competitive footing domestically, GM says the technology sharing will help it maintain a market- leading position in the ever-emerging electrification of the auto industry in the world’s biggest car market – China.
