Friday, August 3, 2012 Four S.C. port cranes damaged in stormPort officials at the Wando terminal in Mount Pleasant, S.C. report that it could be months before damaged cranes are working again. During a thunderstorm on Saturday, 70-mile-per-hour winds pushed a 1,500-ton rail-mounted crane down the dock, hitting three smaller cranes. The high winds also damaged up to 74 containers - 19 loaded with cargo. The port will be down to seven cranes to load and unload cargo until the cranes are repaired.
