Windsurfers rescued from shipping lanes

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued 25 windsurfers and kiteboarders near Crissy Field in the Presidio Sunday after the wind died, stranding them in San Francisco Bay shipping lanes.

UCCG teams in two boats worked quickly to pull the water-sport fans from the bay between 5:30 and 7:15 p.m. when it became clear they couldn't get back on their own, the Coast Guard said.

No one was injured.
