Hapag-Lloyd recognized for IT performance

The online cargo business web portal, GT Nexus, announced that its customer shipper council, a group that it says represents over 50 of the world’s biggest shippers, recognized the German shipping group Hapag-Lloyd with its 2009 partner data quality award.

“Customers formed the shipper council because we all share the GT Nexus platform and we saw an opportunity to work as a collective group, driving improvements to the benefit of the entire community,” said Dennis Melgert, strategic sourcing manager - marine and air at Celanese Corporation, and current Shipper Council chairperson. “Data quality is critical to our members and Hapag-Lloyd has demonstrated commitment to helping us achieve our goals. On behalf of the entire GT Nexus customer community, I congratulate Hapag-Lloyd.”

The GT Nexus shipper council was formed at the Bridges User Conference in 2006 where all customers share a common platform, the IT company said.

The council has been successful in raising data accuracy levels to nearly 100 percent for key shipment visibility events, which drives decision-making across the supply chain, GT Nexus said.
