French firm to handle security for $7B Qatar port

French defense services firm Thales announced that it has been awarded a contract by Qatar to secure its new $7 billion port, currently under construction.

Thales said that it would deliver and install an integrated solution for the protection of the port’s infrastructure and its environment, in addition to ensuring that the operations of the New Doha Port run safely.

A vital component of Qatar's economic infrastructure, the port will feature three container terminals with an eventual combined annual capacity in excess of six million containers annually.
