MacGregor to provide loose lashings for Hapag-Lloyd ships

MacGregor, a division of Cargotec, has received an order to provide loose lashings for five 10,500-TEU Hapag-Lloyd container ships under construction in South Korea by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. The order was booked into first quarter 2016 order intake, and extends last year's $21 million contract
to equip the ships with the MacGregor's cargo handling system.

The new container ships are scheduled for
delivery between October 2016 and May 2017. MacGregor says its cargo handling solution for container ships features analytics, services, hardware and lifecycle support, all designed to

maximize cargo carrying capacity.

"Loose lashings are the vital 'hands-on' component of a container ship's cargo system, but the key for success is to optimize the whole system as one" says Jens Fuge, area marketing manager at MacGregor. "In this challenging container shipping market there is no room for mediocre container ships designs. Maximum cargo density capacity is required to stay profitable."

Once a vessel enters service, MacGregor says it will analyze the cargo system performance and offer guidance where necessary.
