Maher Terminals orders 8 more Konecranes straddle carriers
Maher Terminals of the Port of New York and New Jersey has ordered 8 additional straddle carriers from Konecranes for an undisclosed price, according to a company statement.
When the order is delivered in June 2015, Konecranes says Maher will operate a total of 27 of its straddle carriers at its Elizabeth, N.J. location.
This will be the company’s third straddle carrier delivery to Maher Terminals, which operates the largest container terminals at the ports of New York and New Jersey and a fleet of over 185 straddle carriers.
The Konecranes straddle carriers will be equipped with electric drives and power train components. In keeping with Maher’s green initiatives, the straddle carriers will include the latest Tier 4i, low-emissions engine technology.
They will have a hoisting capacity of 40 tons in single container operation and 50 tons in twin-twenty operation, lifting 1-over-2 containers high, according to the statement, and will feature Konecranes’ Fleet Management System.
