Google's floating barge secrets revealed (video)

Google's mysterious floating barge in San Francisco Bay off Treasure Island is a high tech, moveable showroom for Google's VIP clients, and will feature luxury showrooms and a party deck designed to market Google Glass and other gadgets, multiple sources told KPIX 5.

A source that has been on board told KPIX 5 the first three floors are designed to serve as "dazzling showrooms" that can be outfitted with chrome features and floor lighting. There is an upper "party deck" meant to feature bars, lanais and other comforts so Google can entertain its invitation-only customers.

The project was created by Google(x), the top secret facility near Google's Mountain View headquarters that is run by co-founder Sergey Brin, and is an effort to upstage rival Apple and its chain of popular retail stores, according to sources.

The building is made of interchangeable 40-foot shipping containers that can be assembled and disassembled at will, allowing it to be shipped anywhere in the world, the source said.
