MacGregor Logistics employs camera solution to improve road safety
England’s McGregor Logistics, a Doncaster-based freight transport specialist, has adopted a 3G vehicle-camera solution from Intelligent Telematics to improve road safety and reduce insurance costs, according to a statement.
Intelligent Telematics’ IT1000 3G cameras will be fitted across a fleet of 51 MacGregor vehicles made up of tractor units, 17-ton rigids and 7.5-ton rigids, according to the IT statement.
The IT 1000 combines integrated video and telematics technology to capture footage of road collisions and harsh driving events along with supporting vehicle data. The company says it transmits any recordings via a secure 3G private network to a web-based interface with live email and SMS alerts, so a triggered event can be viewed within minutes of it occurring.
The video cameras are designed to help McGregor reduce the severity and frequency of vehicle fleet insurance claims, according to Intelligent Telematics, allowing it to respond quickly and effectively to incidents and helping to improve driver behavior.
"We recognized the value that vehicle cameras could bring to our business in terms of cost savings and safety improvements," said Keith Law, managing director of McGregor Logistics. "Intelligent Telematics has provided an advanced solution, along with high levels of support, which will become an important part of our commitment to operate a responsible and efficient fleet."
