Cosco Dalian wins contract to build BigRoll vessels

Cosco Dalian Shipyard will build two new MC class module carrier vessels for BigRoll Shipping, a joint venture between BigLift Shipping and RollDock Shipping in the Netherlands.

The ships, which will transport ultra large and heavy modular cargoes, will be 173 meters long with a 42-meter beam, and have a maximum deadweight of 21,000 tons. They will also have Finnish/Swedish 1A ice class status.

"The market's response to BigRoll Shipping and BigRoll's MC Class design has been very positive and we are pleased we can now announce that the vessels will be available mid 2015," said Arne Hubregtse of BigRoll Shipping.
