Southwest adds GPS technology for temp. sensitive, high-value cargo

Southwest Airlines Cargo announced it is now offering a wireless personal electronic device (PED) with multiple sensors that can track temperature, humidity, pressure, shock, and location for high value and temperature sensitive cargoes such as for medical and pharmaceutical products.

OnAsset's SENTRY 400 includes FlightSafe, which according to Southwest, enables the PED to automatically suppress its wireless radios to an "off" mode, ensuring FAA compliancy during a flight.

Southwest said in a statement that intelligent radio suppression is a patented feature and unique to SENTRY, claiming it is the only wireless device capable of turning its radio on and off without human intervention.
