Cargotec files intellectual property theft lawsuit against competitor

Finland's Cargotec Bromma Conquip, a manufacturer of cargo crane spreaders, announced it has filed a lawsuit in Sweden against SweFrame Port Equipment AB, claiming "inter alia" for damages due to what Cargotec claims is "theft and use by SweFrame of Bromma's sensitive product information."

Cargotec said in a statement that the Swedish police department's unit for intellectual property law cases searched the premises of SweFrame and confiscated Bromma drawings and other Bromma materials.

A local court in Sweden, Västmanlands tingsrätt, has reportedly accepted the lawsuit and ordered SweFrame to comment on the claims, facts and circumstances in Cargotec's lawsuit. The first hearing is expected to take place later this summer.
