Robots tested to patrol Russian maritime borders

An underwater robot that will be able to detect and determine the coordinates of moving objects — including quiet ones — is being constructed in the Russian Primoriye region, according to the Fund of Advanced Studies.

The unmanned underwater vehicles will be able to patrol the maritime borders of Russia, regulating the waters and transmitting the coordinates of detected objects.

The robotic submarine is being created in a laboratory of underwater robotics at the Institute
of Marine Technology of the Russian Academy

of Sciences.

Russian scientists are working on a new device, which will enable detection of moving objects in the distant peripheries of the protected area.

"The main task is to provide with the possibility of creating and developing new hardware based on an analysis of space-time structure of the sound field of energy," explained head of the design team Viktor Litvinenko.
