Kalmar receives DOD contract for rough terrain container handlers



Kalmar, a division of Cargotec, has received an order to supply a further 18 rough terrain container handlers to the U.S. Department of Defense. Procured to replace older equipment, the Kalmar RT240s will be delivered to multiple locations across the U.S. by the end of the year.

The total value of the order is approximately $18 million.

The Kalmar RT240 is able to handle containerized

loads of up to 53,000 lbs. (24 tons) across all types of terrain.

"The RT240 provides a reliable materials handling solution, it is simple to service, maintain and fix in the field," said Stephen Speakes, president and CEO of the Kalmar RT Center (KRTC) in Cibolo, Texas.
