Prologis to build 3 logistics centers in Tokyo

Industrial real estate logistics firm Prologis will build three new inventory logistics hubs in the Tokyo region, for a total of 3.2 million square feet.

The company will construct the three projects — Prologis Park Chiba New Town, a new facility at the Prologis Park Yoshimi, and a new asset at the Prologis Park Narashino 5 — in the Tokyo metro area, which will expand will expand the firm's holdings to approximately 25 million square feet of industrial space managed and owned in Japan.

The Prologis Park Chiba New Town project, totaling 1.4 million square feet, will be located along National Highway No. 464 near the Narita International Airport.

The Prologis Park Yoshimi facility, near the Ken-O Expressway, will expand by 1.1 million square feet. The developer is seeking CASBEE "A" certification for the new three-story building, which will be fitted with a solar rooftop system. CASBEE is a ratings system that assesses the environmental performance of real estate developments.

The third and smallest of the Tokyo development projects is a four-story building planned for Prologis Park Narashino that will involve 695,000 square feet of space in an industrial park located 12 miles from Tokyo's core.
