APL launches environmental website
The fourth-largest container-shipping line in the world – APL - announced the launch of a new website that the Southeast Asia-based carrier said highlights eco-initiatives with its vessels and terminals regarding air emissions and water quality.
“Moving our customers’ cargo and supporting global trade are our key objectives,” said Eng Aik Meng, president of APL. “Equally important is the need to operate responsibly in managing our environmental footprint at sea and on land,” he said.
The website - www.apl.com/environment/ - already includes APL’s own enviro efforts including: cold ironing, slow steaming, and use of emulsified and biodiesel fuels.
The new website also showcases the company’s environment policy.
