Northwest Renewable Energy Institute is honored

The Northwest Renewable Energy Institute (NW-REI) of Vancouver, Wash. was honored the Business Growth Award for "Start-Up of the Year" from Vancouver Business Journal last Thursday night.

"This was made possible because of a huge need for quality technicians across the country and a large number of people in the community that needed to be retrained due to layoffs", said Arch Miller, chairman and founder.

By the end of 2010, NW-REI said it expects to teach as many as 600 students the technical skills necessary to service, repair and maintain wind turbines, which has become a prevalent project cargo shipping through some of the Pacific Northwest ports and destined for wind farms throughout the greater region.

The NW-REI said its wind turbine technician-training program “is poised to become a crucial learning center for the green industry in the Pacific Northwest, offering monthly starts for its six-month-long renewable energy program.”
