Dutch company creates tug in a box

Ben3D BV Naval Architecture has introduced the ContainerTug 600S — a strong, small Dutch-built workboat that can be shipped just like a standard TEU, according to a company statement.

Created in collaboration with Oonincx Shipbuilding, the tug has a 1,200kg bollard pull and a relatively large deck area, the statement said. The 6-meter single propeller boat can be shipped anywhere in the world — providing flexibility for operators.

The tug features a Volvo Penta common rail D5 engine connected to a 28-inch fixed pitch propeller. The company says the large rudder area provides good maneuverability under all conditions.
