Kalmar wins big equipment order for DP World's Jeb Ali Port

Kalmar, the cargo equipment arm of Cargotec, announced it was awarded a major contract by DP World to supply Jebel Ali Port with 125 terminal tractors and 12 empty container handlers.

The statement said the delivery of the terminal tractors, ordered in the first quarter, will be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2014.

"Kalmar has been awarded contracts to supply a total of 19 empty container handlers, 2 new version Gloria reachstackers and 8 forklift trucks to be operational in the Jebel Ali Terminals," said Suresh Ananthanarayan, Kalmar sales manager.

Cargotec reports Jebel Ali Port saw record container volumes during the 2013 calendar year, handling 13.6 million TEUs. It said the port is now undergoing further expansion, mainly at Jebel Ali Container Terminal 3, which is expected to increase the port's capacity to 19 million TEUs.
