Maersk switches to low-sulfur fuel in Singapore

Maersk Line announced it is participating in Singapore's Maritime Green Initiative, switching to low-sulfur fuel in its ships that call at the busy port hub there.

"We are pleased with the Singapore Port Authority's initiative to promote sustainable shipping and to support the shipping lines that actively drive environmental performance," said Thomas Riber Knudsen, CEO, Maersk Line Asia Pacific.

Maersk has stated its eventual goal is zero sulfur and cutting its CO2 emissions by at least 25 percent per container between and 2020.
