Retailers support smart technologies in supply chain

The Retail industry Leaders Association announced they have joined an industry effort to urge Congress to invest in smart technology solutions in the upcoming surface transportation reauthorization bill.

"Retailers have already begun reaping the benefits of advanced technologies in their supply chains," said Kelly Kolb, RILA's vice president of government relations.

"As a result of these programs, retailers secure cost savings, make gains in green transportation and experience an ease in capacity issues," Kolb said in a statement.

RILA said it supports the Utilization of Intelligent Transportation Systems component of the Smart Technologies for Communities Act.

"We encourage Congress to lend their support in the upcoming surface transportation reauthorization bill and secure these strategic gains nationwide," Kolb said.
