World's largest cargo ship propeller on its way to South Korea

The largest cargo ship propeller ever built, weighing in at 113 tons and spanning 34 feet in diameter, is on its way to South Korea.

The propeller, made by Mecklenburger Metallguss in Germany, was loaded into the hold of the 13,000-TEU Hyundai Together last Saturday.

It is making its way to a South Korean shipyard, where it will be attached to the back end of an 85,000 HP power train aboard a yet-to-be-named 18,000-TEU container ship.

Six more mammoth propellers are scheduled for productions throughout the year, each going through the Port of Hamburg.
