Vietnam port deploys Tideworks TOS

The Cai Lan International Container Terminal in Vietnam has deployed Tideworks' terminal operating system (TOS) solutions to manage operations at its Greenfield terminal in Ha Long City, according to a company statement.

"With the help of Tideworks' solutions, CICT is setting remarkable benchmarks in efficiency and productivity," said Patrick Advice, CICT general director. "We continue to break vessel productivity records, achieving a gross production of 40.81 moves per hour per crane at the end of 2012."

The terminal has capacity to handle approximately 520,000 TEUs annually. Future CICT expansion will increase capacity to 1.2 million TEUs per year. The port currently handles approximately 2,000 vessel moves per week and at more than 35 gross moves per crane hour.

Cai Lan International Terminal is a joint venture between SSA Holdings International, Vietnam, and the Cai Lan Port Investment Consortium, whose main shareholders are the Vietnam National Shipping Lines and Quang Ninh Port.

CICT has deployed Tideworks technology to manage container operations. During a second phase Tideworks will help implement a third-party equipment position detection system (EPDS), to provide more accurate locating and control of handling equipment as well as improved inventory management.
