Port of NY/NJ Global Terminal launches Navis TOS

Global Terminal, located in the Port of New York/New Jersey, became the first North American facility to upgrade to the latest version of the Navis N4 operating system, according to a Navis statement.

Navis implemented the TOS on March 3 with no disruption to customers, according to the terminal operator and Navis.

The latest version of Navis N4 will support and integrate with Global's new high-tech radio frequency identification and optical character recognition gate technologies that were commissioned at the port last summer, the company said.

Navis said N4 version 2.5 would enable the commissioning of a 20-strong fleet of semi-automated rail mounted gantry cranes to be controlled via a remote terminal.

"This technology platform significantly modernizes the facility, enabling the fastest processing and turnaround times in the harbor," said Rich Ceci, vice president of IT for Global Container Terminals USA. "The Navis team must be commended for their dedication in helping us achieve our goals."
