Navis TOS reaches 100-terminal milestone

More than 100 container terminals are now using Navis technology as their terminal operating system, according to a statement by parent company Cargotec.

SPARCS N4, the newest version of the Navis TOS product, has reached a milestone, with 107 sites in 47 countries investing in the automated terminal system, the statement said.

"For terminals that are live on SPARCS N4, the benefits are clear," said Bill Walsh, president and CEO of Navis. "The increase in flexibility, customization and automation capabilities enable our customers to provide the best possible service to their clients."

SPARCS N4 allows terminal operators to manage multiple sites from a central location, Cargotec said. For example, Transnet Port Terminals uses SPARCS N4 to manage seven sites from one central location, using it to "improve volumes and productivity levels," according to Mark Wootton, executive manager of ICT at Transnet.
