GE top wind turbine manufacturer for 2012
General Electric overtook Vestas as the No. 1 wind turbine equipment manufacturer in 2012, according to data released by BTM Consult, an arm of Navigant Consulting.
Installations in the U.S., where GE has a large market share, were driven up due to the approaching deadline of the production tax credit.
GE held a 15 percent global market share in 2012, moving up to No. 1 from No. 3 in the rankings, taking over the ranking that had been occupied by Vestas since 2000.
Rounding out the top five were Siemens (No. 3, up from No. 9), Enercon (No. 4, up from No. 5), and Suzlon (No. 5, up from No. 6).
