DP World to test prototype pilot boat

DP World UAE Region announced it has made a deal with Emirates Boats to build a new prototype pilot boat for the Marine Department at Jebel Ali Port.

The 50-foot-long inflatable prototype boats have a top speed of 38 knots and can carry nine people, according to the statement.

Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World UAE Region signed the contract with Jamal Fahad Hazaa, Emirates Boats Chairman, at Jebel Ali.

"We support UAE manufacturers who have the ability to meet our international standards," said HE Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of DP World. "They are playing a significant role in the nation’s achievements and we are committed to providing them with business opportunities."

DP World said the vessel would be built at the Emirates Boats’ facility in Jebel Ali under the supervision of marine engineers. Eco-friendly design elements will be added to meet global marine standards and regulations.
