Lynden goes with FuseSource for freight tracking

Multi-modal logistics provider, Lynden Inc., has selected FuseSource Corp. to track freight and relay that information back to warehouses and customers, according to a release.

Lynden’s customer base includes the oil, gas, mining, construction, retail and manufacturing sectors operating primarily in Alaska and Western Canada, with some located in remote areas.

FuseSource said its Fuse Message Broker solution is integrated with Lynden's legacy UniVerse DB applications, Java, Web and desktop applications, and hand-held Windows CE devices.

Hand held devices at each warehouse allow Lynden employees to scan each inbound and outbound box or container, according to FuseSource. That information is subsequently communicated to the company’s servers, updating the database so that each device always has the latest information for each piece of freight moving through the system, FuseSource said.

"Our customers rely on us to provide an accurate and real-time status update for every item we are responsible for moving, no matter how remote the destination,” said Rob Terpilowski, senior software engineer and lead Java developer at Lynden.

"Having a dependable system for tracking each and every piece of freight that we ship is absolutely critical for our business," he said.
