Honda reports on its green North American supply chain

Japan’s Honda announced it slashed an estimated 5.6 million miles of truck travel and 6,743 metric tons of CO2 emissions out of its North American supply chain network in 2011.

In Honda’s seventh annual North American Environmental Report, the automaker reported it has reduced its landfill waste by almost 92 percent since 2001, as the company says it continues towards its goal “of virtually zero waste to landfills” for all 14 of its plants in North America.

"We are accelerating our efforts to rapidly advance the environmental performance of our products and operations throughout the region," said Tetsuo Iwamura, chief operating officer of Honda's North American Regional Operation in a statement.
